The Board of Directors of the Delaware State Funeral Directors Association consists of association members in good standing, elected by their peers. These funeral professionals have shown, through active on-going participation, their commitment to the continued growth of this organization. During their term of service, the men and women of the Board listed below provide the inspiration and guidance for the many activities and professional development events held each year by the Delaware State Funeral Directors Association.

Bill Doherty III, President Website: www.dohertyfh.com Office Phone: 302-652-6811 Bill is a 2003 graduate of Saint Mark’s High School, a 2007 graduate of Gettysburg College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management; and a 2013 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He has been involved in the family business since 2000, and began working full-time in 2010. He represents the third generation at Doherty Funeral Homes, and takes great pride in following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. Bill lives in Hockessin with his wife, Kelly, and their two daughters.

Cole Hutchison, Vice President Website: https://www.daniels-hutchison.com/ Cole is part of the fourth generation at Daniels & Hutchison. He was born and raised in Middletown, and he was a member of one of the first graduating classes at Appoquinimink High School. Cole earned his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Delaware, and he later earned his degree in Mortuary Science from the American Academy McCallister Institute in New York City. He is the current VP of the DE state funeral directors association, an active volunteer coach with Special Olympics Delaware and a member of the Appoquinimink Ducks Unlimited chapter. In his free time he enjoys golfing in the local men's league and spending time in the great outdoors fishing and hunting with friends and family. His deep roots in the Middletown area make him grateful and passionate to serve the families in our growing community during their time of need.

Martha Swanson, Secretary Email: martha@dohertyfh.com Martha Swanson is a dual licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Originally from Chester County, Martha graduated from Avon Grove High School in 2008 and went on to Millersville University to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communication (Public Relations). She then studied Funeral Service Education and earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Northampton Community College, where she served as the president of Sigma Phi Sigma, the Funeral Service Association. Since 2014, Martha has fulfilled a caregiver role to families in and around her community who have lost loved ones. Martha resides in Wilmington and has had the privilege of serving families of Doherty Funeral Home since the fall of 2019.
